Fire at Tesla dealership in Rome destroys 17 cars

ROME – A fire broke out overnight at a Tesla dealership in Rome destroying 17 cars, firefighters said on Monday.

They did not say what started the blaze.

Italian news agencies said investigators were looking into various possible causes, including arson.

Emergency services intervened at 04.30 a.m. (0230 GMT) in the eastern neighbourhood of Torre Angela, a statement from the fire brigades said, adding that nobody had been injured.

The fire partially damaged the building, it added.

Tesla cars have become targets for vandalism across several countries, in response to the right-wing activism of company owner Elon Musk.

The tech billionaire, who also owns X, has joined U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration and has come out in support of far-right parties in Europe.
